Blog Post #10: Growth

Which event that you learned about from the Church History textbook presentations did you find most interesting and why? Which person whom you learned about from the Church History textbook presentations did you find most interesting and why? If you end up being known as an influential figure in history, what do you want to be remembered for? How have you personally experienced growth (either mentally, emotionally or spiritually) after your own challenges in life?

I found Medieval Churches to be the most interesting event from textbook presentations. They were grand churches that were built in 1100 AD after Roman governmental buildings called basilicas. There were two different styles of these churches: Romanesque and Gothic. I think they are really interesting because of their architecture and how unique they are. I saw a gothic church in Germany and I thought it was so beautiful. Although I am not religious, I still admire and I think anyone can admire the beauty of these churches. This image is of the gothic church I visited called the Cologne Cathedral in Northrhine-Westfalia, Germany.

I found Pope Francis to be the most interesting person from textbook presentations. Since he is still alive and still pope, I think it is interesting to learn about him. He used to be an archbishop of Buenos Aires and is the first pope to have Spanish be his first language. After Pope Benedict XVI resigned, he became pope in 2013. He believed in helping those in need and protecting the Earth. Although he has only been pope 5 years, I think everyone can already see that he really does care about everyone. If I were to end up being an influential figure in history, then I would want to be remembered as a confident and brave figure. I love animals so I would probably also want to be remembered for saving endangered animals. Like Pope Francis, I want to be remembered for trying to protect and save the Earth. If I am going to be an influential figure then I want to be able to influence others to be confident. I try to be confident but it is hard especially when you are a teenager. It would be nice to know that I be remembered for finally being able to be confident and conquer my fears.

I think I have experienced growth in becoming more independent and loving myself for my personality and character. As a teenager, our challenges in life are with confidence and getting older. I struggle with confidence a lot in how I look or what I wear. However, I feel that my confidence in my personality and who I am has strengthened and grown. I also struggle with depending on others and trying to be as independent as I can. However, this year I have become more independent because I am starting to drive and I feel that I'll be capable of living on my own once I get a job.
