Blog Post #4: Prayer

What new things did you learn about prayer this unit? Can you see yourself implementing any new prayer practices? What were the main messages you got from The Case for Christ ? What new things did you take away about yourself this unit? This whole unit about prayer was completely new to me and I had never heard of any of these type of prayers before this unit. I learned about Lectio Divina, ACTS, and meditation. Lectio Divina consists of 4 steps where you read the text from the bible and you reflect on it and understand what it is saying. ACTS is where you show gratitude by adoration, contrition, thanksgiving, and supplication. Lastly, meditation is where you clear your mind, relax, and just pray. I also learned that there is no right or wrong way to pray. The image on the right is an example of an ACTS prayer. I do not pray so I could not see myself doing any prayer practices at all. Blog Post #3: The 4 Gospel Writers

What are specific things that you learned about the Gospel Writers from the group presentations? What were similarities and differences you saw within the 4 Gospel readings? From information you gathered from the presentations and class discussions, which Gospel would you prefer to read and why? In the presentations I learned a lot about the four gospel writers. I never knew who they were so all this information was completely new to me. I was surprised to  learn that some gospels weren’t written by the person the gospel is named after. However, some specifics I learned are that the symbol of the Gospel of John is an eagle. This is because it flies closest to heaven which shows that Jesus’ relationship with God is very close. I also learned that Matthew, who wrote the Gospel of Matthew, was an apostle of Jesus. The symbol of his gospel is a winged man, or angel, which is the only “human” symbol. Throughout the presentations, I saw many similarities within the four gospels...
